About Us

Hey, I’m Sean Cox, the founder of Traditional Nutrients.

We’re a small team based in Brooksville, Florida. When I say “small,” I mean it: it’s basically me and my mother-in-law, Danielle. People laugh when I tell them I hired my mother-in-law… but honestly, we work ridiculously well together. She’s the steady backbone of the day-to-day, and I’m the one obsessing over product quality, labels, and every little detail.

How this all started

Traditional Nutrients started in 2023 at my brother Drew’s house. He was cooking eggs in bacon grease, and it instantly reminded me of my grandmother making tortillas with lard. That led to a simple question: when did we stop cooking and caring for our skin with animal fats?

I went on Etsy and ordered a big tub of grass-fed tallow (there weren’t many options back then), whipped my first batch, put it in a cosmetic jar, took a few photos, and listed it.

A day later, I got a sale.

A month later, I had a few hundred dollars in sales.

And I remember thinking: holy crap this isn’t just an idea. This is real.

The “okay… we’re doing this” moment

In 2024, life forced the decision. I was riding my dirt bike, hit a tree (yeah… the tree “jumped out”), and woke up on the ground in the middle of nowhere with a broken femur. Right before that, I’d gotten the call that the company I worked for had been sold... and I was being laid off.

So there I was: broken leg, wheelchair, big question.

Do I go find another job… or do I go all-in on this tallow thing I started for fun?

I chose to go all-in.

We started in my garage and spare bedroom, learning everything the hard way: whipping, testing, fulfilling orders, and stumbling through the chaos of building a real company with zero prior experience.

Then Amazon happened… and everything changed. We were early, our grass-fed beef tallow took off, and we couldn’t keep up on our own anymore. To scale responsibly, we partnered with a long-established renderer in the Midwest and moved production out of the house into our first office.

That’s when it finally started to feel like a “grown-up” company.

Why we do it

The most surprising part of this whole journey has been the messages from customers. People have shared stories about how tallow helped them simplify what they put on their skin, feel comfortable again, and get back to products that actually make sense. That encouragement is what keeps us locked in.

We’re here to help bring back something that got pushed out by modern convenience: real food fat, real ingredients, and old wisdom that still works.

Our mission is simple:
Nature’s wisdom is our tradition.
And we’ll keep expressing that through every product we make.

Thanks for being here, I’m genuinely excited to see where this goes, and I hope you’ll join us on the journey.
